I'm still trying to find out what collection our American of Martinsville bar was part of, but after many hours on Google I might have to call this one done, without an answer.
I'm having such a hard time because it may have been part of multiple collections. It at least has many uses:
The second piece of a bench
The top of a buffet
The bottom of a book shelf
And it seems that in some cases it had legs, but in most it didn't - ours doesn't. That's one very versatile mid-century liquor cabinet.
These pieces are from American of Martinsville's "Dania" line. I just purchased the combination bench/bar pieces (as seen in the top photo) at a garage sale from original owners who claim they bought the two pieces as a set.
ReplyDeleteYep, thanks for the tips. Someone else was kind enough to clue me in on another post: http://www.madformidcentury.com/2010/09/american-of-martinsville-mid-century.html
DeleteI'm now in love with the Dania line and if I ever see a Dania bench to put under our bar I'll probably have to pick it up.
I have a base and four units of this furniture including the bar with some glasses. This was my Father's furniture and I am wondering the value and where to sell.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say about value for a variety of reasons. But this post on pricing mid-century furniture might help you get started.
DeleteYou could try selling the pieces yourself on ebay or craigslist, or contact a local vintage store and see if they're interested in the pieces or in selling them on commission.
I have a very similar piece, I belive it's the same top bar unit with lights and mirror but I also have a bottom unit with legsome. It was my grandparents and I wish I knew where they got it from.
