People in Austin love VW buses, including myself. The first hand-made, kid-themed VW bus item I ever saw was this VW bus wagon. Now this playscape has popped up on Austin's Craiglist. It's probably a stretch to actually call it a playscape, but that's what it's listed as. I guess if you slap a slide on anything, it can technically be a playscape. That said, it would make a pretty sweet neighborhood club house (as long as the windows/doors remained open).
I've been on the hunt for the perfect VW bus (in running condition), now I'm wondering if I just find a broken down one, pull the interior, park it in the backyard and call it a club house. I think the kid would love it.
lol, as an air-cooled lover myself (I have a '71 ghia and covet a bus) I'm torn between absolutely loving this, and feeling disgusted that it's not being restored!
ReplyDeleteThat is the downside to something like this, the bus will probably not see the road for a while. But once the kids are grown, maybe it becomes a restoration project for the dad and now teenagers to work on. That's the best possible option I could think of. It's definitely better that something so pretty rusting in a farmer's barn for years.
DeleteBack in my hippie days in the late 60s and early 70s, I had two Beetles, one Super Beetle and a Karmann Ghia (my favorite car ever)...but never a bus. My daughter has wanted a bus since she was a teenager. She would love this for her sons.
ReplyDeleteThe more I think about it, the more I think something like this would be perfect for my kid and backyard too. Sadly the ad is already down, but I might have to start looking to a non-running bus to tow into the backyard.
DeleteWonder if I could turn one into an extra guestrroom?
ReplyDeleteOoooo, that could work. Not in Texas, where AC is a must in the summer. But in more temperate regions, a bus could be a amazing guest room.
